Anita Joyce
Isenhour
October 7, 1930 – July 29, 2024
Anita Joyce (Daniel) Isenhour passed into Jesus' care on July 29, 2024. The daughter of John and Opal Daniel, Joyce was born in Novice, Texas, on October 7, 1930. She met her future husband, Richard Isenhour, when both were students at McMurry College in Abilene. Joyce and Dick were married on July 1, 1950, in Lebanon, Indiana. They moved to Brownsburg in 1956.
During her life, Joyce worked as copy editor for The Brownsburg Guide. She worked for Brownsburg schools as an aide for 21 years. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, Brownie troop co-leader, volunteer at Eagle Elementary, and worked on the Brownsburg Cheer Committee.
Joyce was a member of the Homemakers Circle Extension Club, serving as President for two years. She was part of the County Extension Council, also. She did many charitable works behind the scenes.
Joyce was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church for 68 years. Her devotion to God and her church never wavered. She taught Sunday School at Calvary for 42 years, leading hundreds of first graders to Jesus. She sang in the church choir for decades and assisted with nursing home ministry.
Joyce was a quiet person with a stubborn streak a mile long. She loved to sing, write, sew, garden, listen to music, and read historical fiction. She loved her family and took care of them when they were unable to care for themselves.
Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard, her parents, and her brother, Wayne Daniel. She is survived by her four children, Kathryn Isenhour (Shelly Haley), Melinda Isenhour, Beth Isenhour Ruble, and Eric Isenhour, as well as her sister, Marisue Daniel Curbow. She has two grandsons, Daniel Ruble and David Ruble (Melissa), one great-grandson, Shaun Ruble US Army, and two step great-grandsons, Tiernan Ireland and Connor Evans USMC.
Visitation will be from 11am to 1pm Friday August 2 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with funeral services there at 1pm. Burial will follow at Lincoln Memory Gardens, Whitestown.
She is at peace, her soul is at rest.
