Anna Darleen Watkins
Brownsburg was called home to be with The Lord at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, Indiana on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at the age of 84. Anna was born August 29, 1930 in Youngstown, Illinois in a covered wagon to Hazel and George Washington Ross and had 8 siblings. She grew up in Terre Haute, Indiana and was wed to John T. Watkins, Sr. on February 1, 1947. They enjoyed 61 years of marriage until John's death in 2008. She worked and retired as a cook from Indiana State University in Terre Haute, IN. Anna moved to Brownsburg, IN in 1997 to be closer to family. She enjoyed cooking for her family (and they enjoyed her cooking!), as well as being a member of Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Assembly of God Church. Anna is survived by her two sons, John T. Watkins, Jr. (Carol) of Brookston, IN, and Roy E. Watkins, Sr. (Joyce) of Brownsburg, IN, 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, her great-grandson, Christian Watkins, and all 8 siblings. Services will be held at Matthews Mortuary in Brownsburg, Indiana with visitation on Monday, July 27, 2015 from 4:00-7:00 pm, and funeral services led by Pastor Dennis DeWitt on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 10:00am with burial to follow at the Brownsburg Cemetery.
