Barbara Ann (Bomar) Messinger

87, Plainfield, went to her eternal home on Saturday, July 21, 2018.  She graduated from Charleston High School in 1949 and in the fall of 1952, she met her husband to be Ray Messinger and they were married in 1956.  Barbara worked for many years for Columbia Gas, Charleston Police Department, and retired from Dickenson Fuel in 1991.  Barbara had an outgoing and engaging personality and enjoyed doing volunteer work for Exxon and her church.  She was a lifelong fan of WVU football, loved to crochet and knit, research family genealogy and attend her grandchildren's activities.  Barbara loved the Lord and was most recently a member of Faith Baptist Church in Avon.  Barbara is survived by her husband of 61 years, Ray Messinger, and two children, Valerie (Christopher) Lorimer of Naperville, IL and Douglas (Sarah) Messinger of Danville, IN.  She has four grandchildren, Hannah and Nell Lorimer and Jessa and Luke Messinger.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Edith Bomar.  Visitation will be 10am to 12 noon Wed. July 25 at Faith Baptist Church, Avon, with funeral services there at 12 noon.  She will be buried in Sunset Memorial Park in South Charleston, WV.
