Barbara A. Phares

83, Brownsburg IN, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025. Barbara was a secretary for the IUPUI Law School for 42 years retiring in 2004. Barbara was a strong, independent, and loving soul who filled her days with the things she cherished most—her dogs Pepper and Penny and cat Stella Vanilla, her beautiful garden, and the joy of Christmas. She brought warmth, kindness, and light to everyone around her. Her love for life and generous heart will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Harvey and Mildred Allen. Survivors include her daughter Debra Lynn (Tom) Abshier; grandchildren Angela (Brandon) Ervin, Natasha (Ryan) Westfall; great grandchildren Daniel Browning, Shelbie Browning, Hunter Westfall, and Connor Hickey.  Visitation will be from 10 am to 12 pm Thurs. Nov. 13 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with funeral services there at 12 pm. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis.
