Benjamin Franklin Chestnut, Sr.
78, Avon, passed away on April 30, 2024. He was a born-again believer in Jesus and a member of Hope Community Church in Brownsburg, IN. Benjamin was an engineering manager for Emerson Electric for 45 years, retiring in 2010. He was a member of Mallory Conservation Club and loved spending time with family and friends. Benjamin was preceded in death by son Daniel Chestnut; parents Lee and Middie (Long) Chestnut; brothers Roy (Rella) Chestnut and James Everett Chestnut. Survivors include his loving wife of 29 years Josie Chestnut; sons David (Rebecca) Chestnut, Benjamin (Lesta) Chestnut, Jr.; daughters Anna (Ken) Dwiggins, Dalena (Jason) Jeffries; brothers Earl (Ella) Chestnut, Tommy (Barbara) Chestnut, John Paul (Bobbie) Chestnut; sisters Stella (Paul) Huffman, Ruth Jones; 14 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm Tuesday, May 7 at Hope Community Church, 3350 N State Road 267, Brownsburg, IN 46112, with funeral services at 1 pm. Burial will follow at Danville South Cemetery.
Benjamin loved the Lord and prayed daily for each of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He loved to laugh, play cards and games, and could talk all day about fishing. The final encouragement he left with his family was, "Keep praising God!"
