Obituary

Betty Louise (Baker) Corn
March 11, 1935 - January 29, 2023

Betty Louise (Baker) Corn born in Indianapolis was the oldest of 3 sisters born to Harry Leo Baker and Vivian Louise (McGuire) Baker. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Charles Albert Corn, her parents, her daughter Cindy, and sister Patricia Robbins. She is survived by sons Jeff Corn and wife Kate of Brownsburg, IN and Mark Corn and wife Debbie of Elkhart, IN and sister Carolyn Webb, 3 grandchildren, Bethany, Caleb and Cara and 2 great grandchildren Cassia and Ariel.

She lived most of her adult life in Brownsburg, IN where she continued her education obtaining a teaching degree, a Master's in Education with an attachment for teaching high level achieving students. She started her teaching career at the Brownsburg Public School system, later accepting a teaching position at Saint Richards Episcopal private school in Indianapolis from which she retired. She loved teaching 2nd and 3rd grades not only the required lessons but life lessons of being proper, respectful, caring, love and encouragement on how to study and learn. She would weave into studies the stories from 'Little house on the Prairie', poems and life of James Whitcomb Riley and stories of her life as girl during WWII. She had a teepee and a little log cabin in her classroom for the kids to read stories from those books and dream of living in those times.

She taught her daughter Cindy the art of knitting, crochet, cross-stitch and quilt making. She loved to travel to Naples FL on winter breaks, to her condominium in Colorado during summers exploring the mountain towns there, road trips to Michigan, N. Carolina, Virginia and Indiana historical sites. She was proud of her son Mark as a dentist and her son Jeff as a builder.

Her belief in God and his message, raising her children in those beliefs and providing an environment for her children to explore, imagine and grow was the core of her love and passion. Her prayers were always filled with gratefulness to God and his blessings and would always ask for protection and guidance for her children.

She and her husband Charles built a home in Brownsburg where she lived for the last 40 years. She remarried after Charles death to Robert Siefert who also has passed away. She loved her home and her desire to complete her life there was honored, surrounded by family to the end. She remained strong, proud and independent until her last days.

Visitation will be from 10am to 12pm Saturday February 4 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with funeral services there at 12pm. Burial will follow in Brownsburg Cemetery.
