Betty "Loraine" Turpin, age 80, was born on January 20, 1932 to Samuel R. and Elizabeth Hibbard Baker. After many years of struggle with health issues, she left this world to be with the Lord on April 29, 2012. She was a proud Bulldog having graduated from Brownsburg High School in 1950. She married Richard G. Turpin on August 18, 1950. She is survived by daughters Lori A. Turpin, Nancy (Wayne) Marsh, Richard (Melissa Larick) Turpin and Samuel R. Turpin, granddaughters Leslie (Greg) Waters, Staci (Chris) Syester, Alison (John) Edwards, grandson Matthew Turpin, Great grandchildren Paige and Chase Waters, Piper and Payton Syester, Alexis and Brooke Edwards and sister-in-law Sue Goodman. She is survived by three sister-in-laws and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Richard, grandchildren Michael and Melissa Marsh, her four brothers, Roscoe Baker, Johnie Baker, Coleman Baker and George Martin. Loraine and Richard Turpin owned and operated Turpin's Hardware for over 30 years retiring in 1992. She was a well respected member of the community and until her failing health spent many years supporting the Hendricks County Republican Party, Brownsburg Order of Eastern Star, Jobs Daughters, and was a member of Kappa Delta Phi National Sorority. She was passionate about the military and spent many hours supporting the troops and families especially during Desert Storm. She received compassionate care during the last 5 years from Brownsburg Health Care. Calling will be from 4-8pm Tues. May 1 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with funeral services at 10am Wed. May 2.
