Bonnie J. Greene, 86, of Decatur, IL, formerly of Brownsburg, passed away August 28, 2020 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family. A visitation will be 4:00 – 6:00 PM, Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Additional visitation will be from 12 noon to 2 pm Thursday September 3 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with graveside services and burial in Shiloh Cemetery, Avon, IN on Thursday, September 3 at 2:30 pm. Memorials in Bonnie's honor may be given to Seeds of Hope, 1425 S. Mickley Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46241 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Bonnie was born June 5, 1934 in Evansville, IN, the daughter of Frank and Ada Fay (Taylor) Frick. She married Lester Merle Greene on July 2, 1953. He preceded her in death on March 25, 2009. Bonnie was a secretary at West Side Christian Schools in Indianapolis. Many would describe Bonnie as an angel – she was known for helping everyone she touched and had a giving spirit. She was active at First Baptist Church on Arbor Drive in Decatur and was active in their loom ministry making hats for children.
She is survived by her children, Valerie (Troy) Carberry, and Ronald (Amber) Greene; grandchildren, Rachel (Steven) Strode, Jason Berg, Lilly Greene, and Bethany Greene; great-grandchildren, Kayson Strode and Raelyn Strode; brother, Jerome (Mildred) Frick of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merle; and three brothers, Frank, Robert, and Donald.
