Brenda A.
Richter
January 31, 1945 – December 7, 2022
Brenda A. Richter, 77, of Brownsburg, entered into eternal life on December 7, 2022. She was born in Benham, Kentucky on January 31, 1945, the fourth of five children. She graduated from Cumberland High School in Kentucky in 1963 and moved to Indianapolis shortly afterward to enter the workforce before becoming a wife and mother. She enjoyed literature and earned an award in high school for her study of Shakespeare. She also loved poetry, writing, and through her life pursued learning about the Bible and the history of the Reformed church. In addition, she held deep interests in world history and biographies, sharing God's word with her family and others, and being active in service to her family, friends, and community. Our mother was also very supportive of the endeavors of her children and enjoyed being involved in our career paths, volunteer work, and vast interests in faith, politics, current events, sports, book discussions, and the arts. She also dearly loved animals and visiting her hometown often sharing her interests in Appalachian history and family roots with her children. Brenda was a Claims Adjuster Legal Consultant for CNA and Liberty Mutual for over 40 years before retiring in 2010. She was also an active member of Free Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis.
Brenda was preceded in death by her husband Richard Richter; father Bill Cooper; mother Ethel Boyd; brothers Billy Cooper, Jimmy Cooper. Survivors include daughter Lisa Ruth; son Robert (Angela) Ruth; sisters Peggy Hall, Aretta (Robert) Sullivan; granddaughter Jessica (Lukas) Sturgeon; great granddaughter Zoe Sturgeon. Brenda also leaves behind many extended family, friends, and the many lives she touched through selfless acts of love, kindness, and generosity. She lived a life of service to her Lord and Savior, even as her health declined. Her faithfulness has served as an inspiration and her legacy is one in which she fulfilled her work in this life to love her neighbor as herself, spread the gospel, to be of service to others, and to love and trust the Lord with all of her heart giving him all the glory and praise even when reasons are hidden. Visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm on Tues. Dec. 13 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with funeral services there at 1 pm. Burial will be in Brownsburg Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Brenda requested that donations be made to the church she attended and supported. Donations can be made as follows to:
