Brian K.
Klawun
April 17, 1960 – February 29, 2024
Brian K. "Pep" Klawun, 63, lifetime resident of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 29, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was affectionately known as "Pep" to family and friends. He worked as a production supervisor at NPX ONE for many years. Brian had a strong sense of right and wrong, he valued quality, respected rules, and took great pride in a job well done. He kindly instilled these values in his fellow associates gaining their respect along the way.
Brian loved golf, enjoying the game with Kathy and friends over the years. The annual trips with his "fishin' brothers", fishing, camping, and fabulous campfire food were the source of many stories and laughs. An avid sports lover, he was a loyal supporter of Notre Dame and the Colts through victories and defeats. Additionally, as an Indianapolis native the roar of the engines at the Indy 500 held a special place in his heart. His number one hobby was playing guitar with his fellow musicians in their band "Classic Avenue". He loved music, he was often found playing guitar, singing a song, or listening to favorite tunes. A meticulous man, one of his greatest pleasures came from keeping his yard in pristine condition, often earning compliments from his neighbors.
He found joy and purpose in uplifting those around him, never hesitating to extend a helping hand or a listening ear. While undergoing treatment in the Bone Marrow Transplant unit, he made a vow to God that if granted recovery, he would dedicate himself to spreading His word and aiding others in need. After recovering he visited the BMT unit to play guitar and uplift the spirits of the patients and staff. He also volunteered weekly at Gleaners Food Bank where he enjoyed meeting people and providing service to others. Many people have benefited from his kindness over the years.
As we bid farewell to Brian, we take solace in knowing that his memory will continue to guide and inspire us. His was a life that touched many and his departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his influence will live on in all of those who loved him.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Genneil Klawun, and sister Christine Moczygemba.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years Kathy Klawun; brothers Rick (Debbie) Klawun and Evan Klawun; brothers-in-law; Joey Moczygemba, Larry Gelnett, and Glynn Stenstrom; sisters-in-law; Trudy Mackey, Virginia Hunsberger, Linda Gelnett, Melody Stenstrom, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Sara Stenstrom, niece, deserves a special mention as she has always been like a daughter to both Brian and Kathy.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Lawrence Einhorn, Jay Baute, the nursing staff, and the BMT Unit of IU Hospital for their wonderful care and support.
