Brian Edward Rice, 79, of Brownsburg, IN, passed away at Brooke Knoll Village on March 25, 2025. He was born June 30, 1945, in Gary, IN, to the late Buford and Norma Peters Rice.
In addition to his parents, Brian was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Janet McCormick Rice, whom he married on February 5, 1972, and died May 7, 2023; his brother, Bruce Rice, and his beloved grandson, Brian Allen Rice Sr., who died November 15, 2019.
Brian attended high school in Merrillville, IN. He was a US Army Veteran, serving in the Vietnam War, and was a member of the American Legion #331 in Brownsburg. He attended Rose Hulman and earned his degree from IUPUI. Brian owned Pavers Inc. in Brownsburg for over 30 years.
Brian was an avid NASCAR fan, and he especially enjoyed attending the races with his son, Brent, and grandson, Brian Allen. He loved spending time with his family, many friends and business acquaintances. He was Lutheran by faith. Brian is survived by his only son, Brent Allen Rice (Robin) of Greenwood, IN; twin great-grandsons (Brian Allen Rice Jr. and Bradley Asher Rice) of Brownsburg; step-grandsons Brian Medlock (Courtney & step-great-grandson Arthur), and Greg Medlock (Mackenzie & step-great-granddaughter Ashlyn); and sister-in-law Mary Beth McCormick.
Visitation will be from 12pm to 2pm Monday March 31 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with funeral services at 2pm. Following funeral services, Brian will be laid to rest next to his late wife, Janet Rice, with full military honors at Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN. In lieu of flowers, donations in Brian's memory may be made to the Disabled American Veterans at www.dav.org
