Bronko Yerich
Age 89, passed away Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at his home in Brownsburg. The son of Kosta and Anka Stanich Yerich, he was born on Feb. 14, 1925 in Indianapolis. Mr. Yerich was a 1943 graduate of George Washington High School and a World War II Purple Heart veteran. On Sept. 21, 1946, he married Bessie Coleman, who survives. He retired from Detroit Diesel-Allison in 1985 after more than 30 years of service. He was a lifetime member of DAV and a longtime member of the Brownsburg American Legion Post 331 where he served as its treasurer for several years. In addition to his wife, Mr. Yerich is survived by a son, James Yerich of Atlanta, Georgia: two daughters, Donna (Dwight) Barger and Linda (Kevin) Rollings, both of Brownsburg; a brother Steve (Efthimia) Yerich of Indianapolis; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, a daughter, Barbara Higdon; a sister, Mary Spremo Hanes; and a brother, Milan Yerich, preceded him in death. Calling will be 4-7pm Thurs. Sept. 18, 2014 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg. Services will be held at St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church, 7855 Marsh Rd., Indianapolis at 10:30am Fri. Sept. 19. Burial will be in Floral Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church or The Greater Indiana Alzheimer's Association.
