Carl E. Van Dorn

88, Zionsville, passed away on September 21, 2021.  He received his undergraduate and law degrees from Indiana University in Bloomington.  He began his career as an attorney in a private practice in Kokomo, IN.  He then began his public sector career working in the Attorney General's Office for the State of Indiana.  Carl was appointed by Governor Whitcomb as public counselor for the Public Service Commission serving several years.  He was then appointed by Governor Bowen as the first Judge of the newly created Superior Court 2 in Howard County serving for 20 years.  Over the next 22 years, Carl served as a Senior Judge for the State of Indiana traveling to courts in several counties.  Carl was very active in Kiwanis serving as Governor of the IN District from 1991 to 1992.  He married his wife, then State Representative, Joyce Brinkman in a service conducted by Chief Justice Randall Shepherd in the Supreme Court Chambers in the Indiana State House.  He was preceded in death by his parents Edison and Nina Van Dorn and brother Joe Van Dorn.  Survivors include his loving wife Joyce Brinkman; step children Muffett Brinkman, Shane Brinkman; and brother Paul (Pat) Van Dorn.  Carl was a follower of Christ on earth and has now gone to join him in heaven.  Private services were held.
