Carol L. Kragerud
82, of Brownsburg, IN, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025 surrounded by loving family.

Carol was born on May 24, 1943 to Arthur and Margaret Pergande in West Allis, Wisconsin. Upon graduating from West Milwaukee High School, she met the love of her life, James Kragerud.  They were married on December 16, 1961 and would have celebrated their 64th anniversary this year. Carol and James were founding members of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Brownsburg in 1964.

Carol was a proud member of the Phi Beta Psi sorority for over 50 years.  She held many offices at the local, state, and national level. In 2004, she was honored with Life Membership by the Brownsburg Theta Phi Chapter. She enjoyed attending state and national conventions with her sorority sisters.

She was a lifetime member of the Brownsburg American Legion Auxiliary and active in many volunteer roles.

Carol was instrumental in the development of the Brownsburg Girls Softball League and coached her daughters' teams for many seasons.

Carol enjoyed sewing, bowling and golf. Her love for reading led to a rewarding part-time career at the Used Book Shop in Brownsburg from 1997-2011.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Ralph (Diane) Pergande and Russell Pergande; and sister-in-law Dawn Pergande.

She is survived by her beloved husband James Kragerud; daughters Tammora (Bret) McNeil and Kari (Tom) Mueller; brothers Gerhardt Pergande and Keith Pergande; grandchildren Brian (Holly) McNeil and Brad (Becca) McNeil; great-grandchildren Helen, Nehemiah and Bray; four nieces and one nephew.

The family wishes to thank Tina Spears Sinclair for her love and care for Carol and the staff in the Rehabilitation Center at Brownsburg Meadows.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 18th from 11am to 1pm at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with funeral services to follow at 1pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Phi Beta Psi Sorority.
