Carolyn Sue Brown

90, Brownsburg, passed away on October 26, 2026.

Carolyn Sue was born on August 15, 1936 in Putnamville, IN to Clarence Arthur and Mae Cooper. Around the age of 12, her family moved to Greencastle. While attending Greencastle High School, she met Charles Wm. Brown.

After graduating in 1954, Carolyn Sue married the love of her life, Charles W. Brown. The two were happily married for 65 years until his death on April 25, 2021.

Carolyn Sue worked as a lawyer’s secretary until the birth of her first daughter. The family moved to Brownsburg in 1961. An active stay-at-home mom, Sue volunteered as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader. As a charter member of the local chapter of Kappa Delta Phi sorority, Sue served the community in many philanthropic activities.

In 1973, Sue returned to the workforce as a customer service supervisor at Wm. H. Block Company, retiring in 1986.

Carolyn Sue is survived by her daughters Susan Vitolins (Janis) of Sun City Center, FL and Sara Brown of Brownsburg, IN; grandchildren Aleksandrs Vitolins, Marta Vitolins and Alyxandria Duncan (Alice).

In addition to her beloved husband, Carolyn Sue was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Clarence Arthur Cooper Jr., Charles W. Cooper, and Robert E. Cooper.

Memorial visitation will be from 10 am to 12 pm on Saturday, Dec. 19 at Matthews Mortuary in Brownsburg, with memorial service there at 12 pm.
