Obituary

Carolyn Sue Lampe, 86, of Clermont, IN was called home and entered into the loving arms of Jesus on January 1, 2026.

Carolyn will be remembered for her huge heart, beautiful smile, and unwavering desire to serve and encourage anyone who crossed her path.

A graduate of Ben Davis High School, Carolyn continued her education at IUPUI and Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. She built a distinguished career in higher education, working at the IUPUI Dental School before retiring as Director of the Embry Riddle Aeronautical University Indianapolis office.

Carolyn had a passion for gardening and being outdoors, and there wasn't a skill she wouldn't tackle. Her handy, can-do spirit was an inspiration to all who knew her. She delighted in creating memories with all their grandchildren, often taking them on trips to visit family in South Carolina and Florida.

Carolyn and her beloved husband, Jim, shared a wonderful 38-year marriage filled with love and cherished visits with family.

She is survived by her husband, James Lampe, her daughter, Sherry (Byrne) Agan and husband Daniel; grandchildren Jonathan (Aimee) and their children Emerson, Daxton, Avalinn, and Zanden; Harrison (Erin) and their children Rowan, Elouise, Solomon, and Maeve; Elizabeth and her children Samuel and Eleanor; and Benjamin (Kati) and their son Griffin; Daughter-in-law Christin Truong, (Anderson, SC) widow of James Byrne. Also surviving are step-daughters Michele Patzig (Nicholas) Fort Walton Beach, FL and daughter Nicholette (Jarrod) Naples, FL and their daughters Jaya and Delaney ; Suzel Mahowald (John) Brownsburg, and granddaughters Olivia and Angela; Deryck Lampe (Vera) Chicago and daughter Madelyn; Jeffrey Lampe (Jennifer) Chicago and daughter Mairen.  She also had many nieces and nephews and greats and she loved all of them!

She was preceded in death by her sons James and Robert Byrne; her mother, Mary Morton Munger; her  father, William Morton; and siblings William, Donnie, & Larry Morton and Pam Morton Kenneson.

Visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm on Monday, January 12 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with funeral services to follow at 1 pm. Carolyn will then be laid to rest in West Ridge Park Cemetery.
