Carolyn A.
May
February 11, 1937 – October 4, 2024
Carolyn "Johnson" May went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 4 at the Life's Journey Hospice unit. She was born on February 11, 1937 to William and Ethel Johnson of rural Brownsburg where she graduated from High School, class of 1955. She attended all 12 grades in the Brownsburg school system, staying active in various class functions and reunions.
Carolyn became a food salesperson for Young Packing and met Morris May, the owner of the Mug N Bun Drive In. The two were later married over Labor Day, 1979 and together they owned and operated that iconic business until they sold it and retired. Her influence over many of the restaurant employees is still evident today.
After the passing of her husband, Carolyn became deeply involved in the ministry of the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church through various women's groups and the church missions committee.
In 2019, she moved from Brownsburg to Danville, allowing her to age in place gracefully. She became a member of the New Winchester Christian Church were her oldest son serves as pastor. For many years, Carolyn has graded papers for the Rock of Ages Prison Ministry Bible course, receiving accolades for the thousands of papers she graded.
Carolyn was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Her words of encouragement and beautiful smile will be missed by all.
