Cheryl A. Wilson
Cheryl Anne Wilson (née Kill), age 76, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026, in Brownsburg, Indiana. Born on November 22, 1949, in Michigan City, Indiana, Cheryl was the beloved daughter of the late Marvin and Dorothy Kill.
Cheryl devoted her life to the field of special education, teaching for more than four decades, including 38 years with Joint Services in the Mishawaka and Penn School Districts. She was not only a caring and devoted teacher in the classroom but also an innovator and advocate for meaningful change in Special Education. Cheryl helped pilot the first inclusion program for Special Education at Joint Services, opening doors for countless students who benefited from her vision. She also played a key role in introducing and implementing positive behavior supports and served on a statewide committee that developed Indiana’s licensing requirements for Special Education teachers. In addition to her work as an elementary teacher, Cheryl spent a summer as a Spanish-speaking instructor in Mexico, helping graduate students learn about special education teaching methods.
Cheryl’s dedication to her students was second only to her devotion to her family. She is survived by her loving husband of more than 54 years, Eugene Wilson; her daughters, Kirstin Wilson and Kimberly Williams (Jeff); and her cherished granddaughters, Lizzie Williams and Allie Williams, who brought her immeasurable joy.
An avid reader and true sports fan, Cheryl loved to watch whatever sport was in season—especially when it involved the IU Hoosiers. Her greatest happiness came from supporting her daughters and granddaughters in everything they pursued.
Cheryl’s legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the love she gave so generously.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, May 1st from 3 pm to 5 pm at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with memorial services to follow at 5 pm.
