Clara Jane (Gibbs) Richardson, 89, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2020, at Brownsburg Health Care Center surrounded by family members.

A lifelong Brownsburg resident and member of St. Malachy Catholic Church, she was born on July 11, 1931. She attended Brownsburg High School and was a cheerleader. She took a job at Eli Lilly, Co., prior to working as a homemaker and raising a large family. Clara was one of 12 children and had 12 children of her own.

Survivors include daughters Cathy M. (Charlie) Cooley, Debbie R. Robidoux, and Cheryl A. Smith; and sons James T. (Debbie), Gregory J. (Kristi), Roch G. (Becky), Timothy G. (Tammy), Jeffery G. (Suellen), Matthew G. (Patty), and Anthony G. (Stacie) Richardson. She is also survived by more than 20 loving grandchildren and more than 15 great-grandchildren. Brothers Martin, Casey (Phyllis), George (Maryclare) Gibbs, and sister Margaret (James) Mackall survive her as well.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald R. Richardson; mother, Mary C. (Roach) Gibbs; father, Clarence J. Gibbs; daughter, Mary B. Halcomb; son, Jeffrey J. Richardson; grandson, Andrew T. Richardson; great-grandson Seth Cooley; as well as five sisters (Ann Hillock, Rita Blair, Edna Eaton, Mary Phillips  and Ruth Smith) and two brothers (Leo and Basil Gibbs).

Public visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday Oct. 12, 2020, at Matthews Mortuary, 690 E. 56th Street, Brownsburg, Ind. When visiting please follow COVID-19 guidelines: masks are required with 6 ft. distance between guests. No food is allowed in the facility. Services will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday Oct. 13, 2020, at St. Malachy Catholic Church, 9833 E County Road 750 N, Brownsburg, Ind.
