Obituary

CORA WILSON CASEY KILBOURN
Age 96
Avon, Indiana

Cora "Corky" Wilson Casey Kilbourn- 96, of Avon, passed away peacefully on November 29th at Life's Journey of Avon from complications of the Covid virus even though she was fully vaccinated. Cora (nee Casey) was born in Rouses Point, New York to Robert and Gladys Casey (nee Wilson) on March 13, 1925. On October 02, 1944, she married David B. Kilbourn Sr. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Rouses Point.
Cora attended Mary Burnham School for Girls, Northampton, Massachusetts, graduating in 1942. She graduated from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., in 1946 with a degree in English. She also spent 1951 in Yokosuka, Japan with their children, Pat, and David when her husband was stationed at the naval base there. She worked a variety of jobs, but her favorite ones were at various gift shops. She loved to travel and had visited 46 out of 50 states. She treated her children and grandchildren to several trips to Disney World and enjoyed many cruises.
Cora was an accomplished knitter as well as talented in crewel embroidery and cross-stitch quilts. She was an avid reader and a huge fan of games shows, especially "Wheel of Fortune." Cora was a passionate pet lover and spoiled all of the dogs and cats she owned through the years. More than one person said if they were to come back as something they wanted to be one of Cora's pets. She enjoyed spending time with her children, 19 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was caring, generous and fiercely independent.
Cora is survived by her sister Clara Cabesas, her son David B Kilbourn Jr. (Virgene) and daughters Pat Riedl, Candi (Carlos) Calvo, Kathi (Darrin) Hull and their families, and her beloved cat Patches.
She was preceded in death by her husband David (1980), her son Robert Kilbourn (2020), grandchildren Sean Casey Kilbourn (2016) and Karen L Shepard (2021), and her only brother Robert E. Casey Jr. (1999).
We would like to thank the amazing staff of Life's Journey for their attentive care, and Intrepid Hospice for their medical care and guidance.
