Corey A.
Polen
November 2, 1975 – February 11, 2023
Corey Alan Polen
47, of Brownsburg, passed away on February 11, 2023, from complications due to ALS. Corey was born on November 2, 1975 to Bobby A. and Becky L. Polen in Huntingburg, Indiana. After graduating from Evansville North in 1994, he went on to study Actuarial Science at Ball State University. After graduation in 1998, he worked 20 years as an Information Management Consultant for Milliman. In 1994, he met Jennifer J. Jones, and they wed in 1998, going on to have 3 children, Isaac L., Ethan M., and Aubrey J. Corey was a devoted husband and father, determined to provide for his family. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, and valued every second with them. He was extremely proud of Isaac, Ethan, Aubrey, and Jennifer's accomplishments. He was honored to be part of their life journey and grateful for their support as ALS progressed. He was passionate about baseball and could often be found on the diamond sharing his love for the game and was affectionately known as "Coach Corey." Corey also worked tirelessly throughout his ALS battle to help other patients both present and future. He did this through his advocacy for the "Death with Dignity Act," and was instrumental in getting rid of the 5-month SSDI waiver for patients. The project closest to his heart was working with Senator Braun's team to help facilitate the "Promising Pathway Act." Anyone who knew Corey knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. Corey was preceded in death by his mother Becky. He is survived by his sweetheart, Jennifer, their children, Isaac, Ethan, and Aubrey, his brother Blake (Emily) of Brownsburg, nephews Austin and Logan, niece Brooklyn, and father Bobby of Indianapolis. Corey's wishes were for cremation. Memorial visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm Fri. Feb 24 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with Celebration of Life there at 1 pm. In lieu of any donations to an ALS organization, please reach out to your federal representative of Congress and ask them to support the Promising Pathway Act.
