Danny L. Nelson

80, of Brownsburg, passed away on October 11th, 2026. He was born in Greencastle, IN to his parents Donald and Naoma (Martin) Nelson on October 5th, 1946. Danny held a distinguished military career in the United States Army where he served in Vietnam. He served for 38 years achieving the rank of Colonel in the National Guard.

Danny also worked as a cable repairman at AT&T for 31 years. He was a trusted and familiar face as a member of the Brownsburg American Legion, VFW, and Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Phyllis Mitchell. Danny is survived by his beloved wife Susan Nelson; children Keith Nelson, Scott Nelson, Joyce Nelson, Brent Nelson, Heather Englert, John Dotlich, and Holly Husby; sisters Sherry Nelson and Paula Harlow; 12 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10 am to 1pm at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg on Saturday, October 17th with funeral services to follow at 1pm. Danny will then be laid to rest with military honors at Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis at 11 am on Monday, October 19th.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
