Obituary

David M. Day was born January 28, 1937 in Ft. Wayne to William and Zola (Rayburn) Day and was taken into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 25, 2021.  Because of his dad's employment, they moved to several towns in Indiana as he was growing up. He graduated from Greencastle High School and attended General Motors Institute.  He met Rosemary McQueen (she was best friends with his cousin and the cousin introduced them) in September 1955 and they were married on Valentine's Day, 1958.  David retired from National City Bank (originally Merchant's National Bank) as a loan officer.  Shortly after retirement he did a mission trip to Central Africa Republic to repair missionaries vehicles.  Later on, he did another mission trip to France to work on housing for missionaries.  During retirement, he worked several years for Enterprise Car Rental and also volunteered 12 years at St. Vincent Hospital Outpatient Dept.  He had a lifelong love of working on and buying/selling used cars.  David was a person of contrast: loved classical music, esp. organ music and on the other hand loved riding his motorcycle.  He loved being outside and nature, especially the warm sun, mountains, rivers and ocean and palm trees.  He truly enjoyed people and related easily with people of all walks and statuses of life.  He dearly loved being with family.  Also, he enjoyed camping and travel – a highlight being a cruise through the Panama Canal, which was a dream come true.  David also loved the Lord, reading his Bible and was an active member of Crossbridge Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws, Willard and Hazel McQueen and his brother, Paul Day.  Surviving him are: his beloved wife, Rosemary; sons Steve Day and David (Tami) Day, and daughters Kathy (David) Classen, Susan (Stephen) Clark, Marilyn (Malcolm) Gately, and Christina (Jared) Calvert, 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, sister Peggy (Bill) Johnson and sister-in-law, Marilyn McQueen, plus a host of other relatives and friends.  Known by his friendly, outgoing manner and sense of humor, he was loved and will be missed by a host of relatives and friends.  Visitation will be from 4-8pm Wednesday March 31 at Crossbridge Church 4309 W. 79 th St., Indianapolis, IN 46268.  Funeral services will be at the Crossbridge Church at 12 noon Thursday April 1 with visitation one hour prior.

The funeral service for David M Day will be livestreamed at noon on Thursday, April 1. The link is CrossBridge | Because God's Love (crossbridgeindy.com) (Messages tab)   OR YouTube (search for CrossBridge Indy)
