David Dillon Kindrick
76, Brownsburg, passed away peacefully at home on November 19 th . Stoic to the end, David battled Diabetes, Lupus and Parkinson's before Pancreatic Cancer claimed his life.
Born April 20, 1945 in Kingsport, TN, to William and Laura (Hickman) Kindrick, David lived in Eidson, TN, Middlesboro, KY and Pendleton Gap, VA before moving to Indianapolis as a teenager.
David was a proud member of the United Auto Workers, working at Allison Transmission and retiring after forty-one years. Following his retirement, David worked another seven years at Dugan/Champion Auto dealership in Avon.
A former Little Leaguer who never lost the passion for baseball, he watched hundreds of MLB games every season. An avid I.U. basketball fan, David was pleased the undefeated 1976 team record still stands.
His wife Shirley Saurbaugh Kindrick preceded him in death in 2019 after 55 years of marriage. David is survived by his son Alan S. Kindrick (wife Beverly Cook) of Fallbrook, CA, daughter Melissa J. Powell of Brownsburg, grandson Robert Powell of Brownsburg, brother John Kindrick (wife Andrea) of Kingsport TN, sister Barbara Duncan (husband David) of Avon, brothers-in-law Richard Savage of Columbus, OH and David Saurbaugh of Indianapolis.
Alan and Melissa would like to thank Lisa and Carolyn who were great friends to their parents for many years, always taking the time to check in on them.
Honoring David's wish, there will not be a visitation but a burial service at Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis at 11:30am Tuesday November 30.
