David P. Maurer

83, Brownsburg, passed away July 20, 2022.  Dave received his Bachelor's and Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University, where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity.  He worked as an Industrial Gases engineer for Union Carbide in Speedway, then for Taylor Wharton in Mobile, Alabama for 38 years, retiring as plant manager.

Dave enjoyed many hobbies, including golf, softball, volleyball, bowling, piano, photography, and gardening.  He loved animals, especially dogs and particularly Golden Retrievers. He was an avid woodworker and made many pieces of furniture. He enjoyed traveling, especially vacationing in Montana for horseback riding and fly fishing.

Dave was a member of St. Malachy Catholic Church. He is preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Marian Maurer and his twin brother Donald Maurer.  Survivors include his wife Linda Maurer; children Scott Maurer and Susan Oxley (husband Lance); grandchildren Haley and Logan Oxley.  Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Wednesday, July 27 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg.  Memorial mass will be at 10:30 am Thursday July 28 at St. Malachy Catholic Church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Rock Steady Boxing or Indy Humane.
