David Walter Riggs, D.D.S. passed away peacefully in his home on December 24, 2024. Born on October 18th, 1946 in Evansville, IN, he was the son of the late Walter and Garneta Riggs. He married Susan Wolavka Riggs on June 6, 1970.

David graduated from Bosse High School Class of 1964, and went on to the University of Evansville where he was a member of the Purple Aces basketball team. He graduated from Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1971. After graduation from dental school he served his country in the United States Army as a general practice dentist, serving in Ft. Polk Louisiana and the Republic of South Vietnam. Upon completion of his military service, David returned to Indianapolis and established his dental practice where he would practice general dentistry for more than forty years.

David was preceded in death by his mother and father, and his wife of 50 years, Susan. His love and memory is kept alive through his children Stacy (Stacey) Parker and Eric (Trisha) Riggs; and his grandsons Cade and Broc Parker and Bryce, Blake, Brooks, and Beckett Riggs. He is also survived by his brother Don (Joy) Riggs, brother-in-law William (Janene) Wolavka, and many nieces and nephews.

David was an avid golfer and spent many hours enjoying his friends on the golf course. He had a passion for woodworking, listening to and playing music, and sharing old stories and sports knowledge with friends. Known to many as Papa Dave, or Doc, he was a big presence (and unofficial official) at every grandson's baseball, basketball, football, and track event. Spending time with family and friends brought him much enjoyment.

David will be laid to rest at the Methodist Bluegrass Cemetery in Daylight, IN. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2025  from 1:00pm-4:00pm at The Bridgewater Club, 3535 E. 161st St., Carmel, IN 46033
