Delmar F. Beight, Sr., 100, of Brownsburg, IN, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2011, just eleven days short of his 101st birthday. Mr. Beight was born June 18, 1910 to John and Cora (Jerrell) Beight of Carlisle, IN, graduated from Sullivan High School in 1930, and married Dorothy Ellen Cox of Paxton, IN in 1937.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Mr. Beight was a railroad engineer for Penn Central Railroad, retiring in 1975. Additionally, he worked as an automotive mechanic and track layer in the coal mines of Bicknell, IN.
Mr. Beight is survived by four sons, Delmar, Jr., Ralph, Daniel, and Randall Beight; a daughter, Anita Beight-Mays; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; a daughter, Doris Jean; and a son, Kenneth.
Funeral services will be 10am Sat. June 11th, 2011 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg. Visitation will be 4-8pm Fri. June 10th in the mortuary. Graveside service will follow at 3pm in Indian Prairie Cemetery.
