Donald E.
Phelps
February 11, 1929 – July 8, 2020
Donald E. Phelps
91, Brownsburg, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 8, 2020, a journey which he eagerly anticipated. He is no doubt unraveling the mysteries of his eternal home, which was a frequent topic of discussion with his fellow brethren.
Don was born in 1929 in (Haughville) Indianapolis to William Luther and Pearl Bullock Phelps. He attended George Washington High School before enlisting in the Army. He served in the Korean War Theater, the details of which were explicitly etched in his memory.
Following his discharge from the Army, Don worked as a mechanic for several companies in central Indiana before retiring. He was a long-time member of New Testament Missionary Baptist Church and served there in several capacities.
He is preceded in death by his respective wives, Anne Rita and Katrina Sue, and sisters, Eleanor Pearson, Iva Jean Judd, Kathleen Rainey and Betty Reuter.
Survivors include his children, Bill (Deb) Phelps, Bob Phelps, John (Jennifer) Phelps, Marie (GE) Booth, Becky (Dan) Sanders, Wendy (Chris) Kerr, Mike (Angela) Wolf, and Becky (Dan) O'Connor, as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Private entombment services will be held at West Ridge Park Cemetery.
