Donna (Barnes) Sulkoske
passed away on Sept. 19, 2016. She was born May 22, 1934, in East Liverpool, OH, the daughter of the late Donald and Matilda Barnes. She was a graduate of East Liverpool Ohio High School and attended Muskingum University and Ohio University graduating from Ohio in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. Later, she earned a Master's degree in Education from Butler University. She married Richard A. Sulkoske in September of 1956 and began her teaching career in the Indianapolis Public School System (IPS). That career was interrupted in 1959 with the arrival of the first of three sons, and she became a stay at home mom until the youngest started school. She returned to teaching in IPS at the Hawthorne School 50 and retired in 1993 after 28 years. She was a volunteer for the Brownsburg Adult Literacy Program. She enjoyed music, reading, travel (favorite destination, Hawaii), playing bridge, the outdoors and hiking. Donna is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Richard; three sons, Daniel, John (Cheri), and David (Shelly); 8 grandchildren, Sarah, Samantha, Thomas, Emma, Jake, Nick, Rachel and Alexandra; and former daughter-in-law, Wendi. Visitation will be from 10 am to 12 pm on Fri. Sept. 23 at St. Malachy Church, Brownsburg, with funeral mass there at 12 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Malachy Church or Brownsburg Public Library.
