Dorene G. (Wendt) Koch
92, Avon, passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2018. She was born March 24, 1926 in Chicago, IL to the late Frank and Minnie (Roepke) Wendt. Dorene was preceded in death by the love of her life, August (Augie) E. Koch (2004). They were married 56 years, residing in Chicago, IL, Pittsburgh, PA, and Brownsburg, IN. They enjoyed their travels to Hawaii, Alaska, Switzerland and Germany. Also, preceding her in death were siblings, Myrtle Briggs, Nathalie Becker, Adeline (Sis) Krzyzaniak, Warren (Brother) Wendt, Dolores Ward (twin), and Elaine York. Surviving Dorene are children Arlene (James) Hausmann, Diane (Rex) Swing, August J. (Christine) Koch, and Kimberly (Ron) McBride. Also, grandchildren, Michelle (Joe) Hazel, Julie Hausmann, Amy (Brian) Washburn, Justin Swing, A.J. (Amanda) Koch, Jacob Swing, and Danielle (Gene) DuCharme; step-grandchildren Ashley & Nick, great-granddaughter Rosalie Koch; and step-great-granddaughter Amaya. Also surviving her are many nieces and nephews. Prior to death, Dorene resided 14 years at Park Square Manor. She cherished her friends she had made over the years. She loved playing bingo, cards and scrabble. She looked forward to playing bingo at the Hendricks Co. Senior Ctr. on Wednesdays. The family thanks Brownsburg Health Care for their loving care while Dorene was in rehab. Also, thank you to Hendricks Regional Hospital ICU for their tender care in her final days. Visitation will be from 2-4 pm Sun. April 22 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with funeral services there Mon. April 23 at 10 am.
