Douglas J. Kuker
71, Brownsburg, passed away May 30, 2015. He was born Sept. 15, 1943 in Waterloo, IA. His parents were William A. (Hap) and Lucille Kuker of Tripoli, IA. He graduated from Tripoli High School in 1961. He served in the Navy from 1961-1963 on the USS Valley Forge during the Vietnam War. He married Diane Mirs on Nov. 29, 1964 and they had four children Deb (Milt) Bagan, IN, Tina (Dino) Hayz, IL, Matthew (Elaine) Kuker and Marsha (Brian) Kinser both of IA. Douglas was in retail sales from the age of 5 in his grandfather and father's grocery store, the Tripoli Mercantile. He then worked for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., Newburg Brokerage, Hostess Cake and Little Debbie. Moving to Indiana in 2006, he worked for Cenveo, EnterMarket and Kroger in produce and deli departments. In the 70's he drove a dirt stock car in the Fun Class in Davenport, IA, winning the championship in 1972. He then was a pit man for Rollie Frink. Douglas was diagnosed with thymic carcinoma in 2012. He is survived by his wife Diane; children Debra, Tina, Marsha and Matthew; four grandsons Atticus, Eli, Drew and Zach; brother William (Ann) Kuker; sister Mary Falk. He was preceded in death by his parents William A. and Lucille Kuker; grandparents E.H. and Linda Kuker, Robert and Sylvia Brown, brother Robert Kuker. Memorial services will be 1pm Friday June 5 at the Calvary United Methodist Church, Brownsburg.
