Obituary

Earl Frederick Stegemoller (9/21/29 - 1/6/26)

Earl F. Stegemoller passed away peacefully at Life's Journey Hospice House in Indianapolis, Indiana on January 6, 2026, at the incredible age of 96. He was born on September 29, 1929, to Leonard Stegemoller and Stella Mae Hankins. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather and great-great grandfather. He was preceded in death by brothers; William, Edwin, Elmer, Lee, and Fred Stegemoller and his sisters, Helen Campbell and Betty Sue Truax.

Earl married the love of his life, Bonnie Jean Bohlander, on July 21, 1950. Bonnie preceded him in death on March 1, 2007. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Michael and Rick (Debbie). Earl is survived by three children: Dan Stegemoller (Renee), Vicky Bloomer (Tom) and Brian Stegemoller (Cathy), 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren.

Without any question, Earl's greatest pride and joy in life was his love for his family. Earl was a faithful and devoted Christian and set a great example for us all by demonstrating daily his love for God and family. He was a long-standing serving member of Fleming Gardens Christian Church, Indianapolis, Indiana and rarely missed a Sunday service.

Earl was an incredible athlete his whole life. As a student at Ben Davis High School, he was a recognized athlete in both basketball and baseball. He was a Semi-Pro Baseball Pitcher on the Capital Oil Team after high school as well as a warm-up pitcher for the Indianapolis Indians. He often told the story of playing a Double-Header the day after he got married. He struck out 16 batters and allowed only 2 hits while earning $22 to help pay their expenses. He told us often that they "lived on love" not money. Earl went on to be an avid golfer and continued to play until he was 92 years old rarely beaten by his sons and grandsons.

Earl never knew a stranger. He loved all people and never said a mean word about anyone. He was well known in Brownsburg for making his famous Peanut Butter Fudge and No Bake Cookies. He delivered them to his bankers, barbers, friends and family up until last year. Earl was an amazing man, and he will be missed by many!

Services will be held at Matthews Mortuary, 690 E. 56th St Brownsburg, on Wednesday, January 14th, with the Showing starting at 10:00 am followed by the Funeral Service at 12:00 noon by the Rev. Danny French. Graveside burial will immediately follow at Lincoln Memory Gardens 6851 S. Indianapolis Rd, Whitestown, IN.
