Edith Anne (Pollard) Hallett passed away at the Brownsburg Meadows at the age of 108. She was born to Ansel R. Pollard and Edith (Ryan) Pollard on February 22, 1918 in Indianapolis. She graduated from Arsenal Technical High School and loved spending summers at Spring Lake east of Indianapolis. Edith and Fred S. Hallett (deceased) were married in 1941 and spent the war years traveling among several military bases in the U.S. They started a family during the war and continued for some time afterwards. Edith bore eight children: Susan J. (Hallett) Kerns (deceased), Sharon Hallett (deceased), Sarah E. (Hallett) Kingan, Fred S. Hallett Jr., Mark A. Hallett, David E. Hallett, Thomas A. Hallett (deceased), and Marilyn J. (Hallett) Blessing. She is survived by 5 children, 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. After WWII she moved to Brownsburg and established a three acre homestead and stayed until she moved into assisted living. Edith loved nature and spent a lifetime supporting conservation causes and organic food. She attended the Calvary Methodist Church in Brownsburg where she was a member until her death. At the age of 106, she was celebrated by the town of Brownsburg with a certificate from the mayor declaring her 106th birthday "Edith Hallett Day". A celebration of her life will be held at Calvary Methodist Church, 575 W. Northfield Dr, Brownsburg, IN 46112, supported by Matthews Mortuary in Brownsburg on Thursday, June 25th from 11 am to 1 pm.
