Ed H. Heckman

Age 77 of Avon, Indiana, formerly of Lagro, passed away October 6, 2023.  Ed was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.  He had a compassionate heart and was committed to service of others.  He loved being outside and spent much of his retirement working at the farm and in his yard.  He was passionate about plants, flowers, and gardening, sharing what he grew with others.  He volunteered his time at the HOSTs program in Wayne Township, mentoring children in reading comprehension.  He was active in his church throughout his life.

Ed was a graduate of Northfield High School in Urbana and had a Masters degree in Agronomy from Purdue University.  He served as a County Extension Educator across Indiana for over 30 years.

Ed was the beloved husband of Joan (nee Graves), loving father of Scott (Becky) and Doug (Tracy); devoted Grandpa to Brett, Lucy, and Luis; cherished son of the late D.V. and Julia and brother to the late Ted.

Visitation will be from Tuesday October 10 from 4-7pm at Cornerstone Christian Church, 8930 N. SR 267 Brownsburg, IN with funeral services at the church Wednesday 10am. Interment services and burial will be at 2pm Wednesday October 11 at St. Paul's County Line Church Cemetery, Andrews, IN.
