Edythe M.
Hesser
November 11, 1940 – June 16, 2025
Edythe Marie Coulson Hesser, a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, while surrounded by her devoted husband of almost 65 years, Gary Hesser, and her loving family at home in Brownsburg, IN. She was born in West Frankfurt, IL, on November 11, 1940, to Robert Pershing Coulson and J Nadine Goodman Coulson.
As a pillar of strength and inspiration for her family and friends, Edythe will be remembered for living a life full of love. She reflected her joy and gratitude in her welcoming smile, unquenchable curiosity, infectious laugh, and deep generosity. She opened her heart and soul to all she met and found purpose and passion in giving back to the community and her country.
Edythe was an active and engaged pioneer in healthy community building. Her inspiration and thirst for learning blossomed while attending school in Speedway, IN. Upon graduation from Speedway High School, she was recruited to the FBI, where she worked as a stenographer and later took a role at Chrysler focused on negotiations and manufacturing plant labor relations. Edie also found joy in helping others learn and occasionally taught as a substitute instructor at Speedway High School. While raising her family and working at Consolidated Freightways as a dispatcher in Danville, IL, Edythe graduated with honors from Sangamon State University with a degree in Business Management. This prepared her for executive management roles within Vermillion County, IL, in Human Resources for 11 years and as a Nursing Home Administrator for 10 years. While living in Danville, IL, she served several seasons as the executive director of the Danville Symphony Orchestra. Her love of music began while taking piano lessons as a child. Making friends and taking on leadership roles came naturally to her in every professional and volunteer organization she joined. Her kindness and compassion touched countless lives, and that impact continues to help new generations of families thrive in these communities.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Dean Hesser; her children, Pam Hesser Guengerich (Steve), Scott Hesser (Suzi) and Jeff Hesser; her 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; and her siblings, James Robert Coulson and Barbara Coulson Magnetti; and her nieces and nephews, including several close cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. EST. All are welcome! For more information contact Pam Hesser Guengerich. In lieu of flowers, Edie has requested that donations be made to any charity that is meaningful to you or to Connection Pointe Christian Church, Brownsburg, IN, at www.connectionpointe.org/give in her honor.
