Obituary

Fred (Bud) Dietz, 75 of Pittsboro, Indiana passed away in his home on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.

Bud was born October 26, 1950 in Beech Grove, Indiana to his parents Fred L. And Evelyn V. Dietz.  He was a graduate of Manual High School, 1969.  He married his high school sweetheart Kathy on August 2, 1969 and later welcomed their daughter Laura in May, 1970.  Bud worked at Firestone in Speedway in his early years, and later worked along side his Father at Mayflower.  He joined the Air Force in 1974 and was an aircraft mechanic, stationed at Dover AFB, Dover, Delaware.  After his service in the Air Force, he returned to Indiana and made Pittsboro his home for 46 years. He worked for Yellow Freight/YRC for 33 years as a Diesel Mechanic, retired in 2009.

Bud loved the outdoors, going camping and boating at Raccoon Lake in the Summer and then again in the fall for the Covered Bridge Festival.  He enjoyed fishing trips the most.  He also had a passion for collecting guns and going to the shooting range.  He loved working in his wood shop making things for friends and family, and his favorite wood working project was making Rocking Horses for his Grandchildren.  He loved his Son In Law Shane dearly, who was by his side  and an ear for his jokes and always referred to him as "his favorite Sonny in law".  He loved and enjoyed spending time with his buddy Kevin, going to breakfast and their trips to Lowe's.  Spending time with his good friend Dennis creating masterpieces in and out of their wood shop.  Most of all he always looked forward to spending time with his family.

Bud was a loving Husband, a wonderful Dad, Father In Law, a devoted Grandfather/Great Grandfather and a loyal Friend.  He had many kids who called him their Papaw through his Grandson's school Friends and always treated them like one of his own.  He was a good neighbor to all.  He knew no stranger, and had a giving heart.  He loved his family dearly as they loved him.  He will forever be missed by all who knew him.

Bud is preceded in death by his Father, Fred Leroy Dietz, his Mother, Evelyn Verna Dietz, his Brothers Ronnie and Tom Dietz.  He is survived by his loving Wife, Kathy, his devoted Daughter Laura Fleenor (Shane), his Bonus Daughters Kelly Connell (Kevin) and Lora Myers (Jim).
