Gene R. Baute

age 85, Brownsburg, a retired certified public accountant, died Sept. 21, 2018. Gene was born in Anderson, IN on May 12, 1933 to Ebbert and Lydia Baute. He graduated from Middletown High School in 1951 and Indiana University in 1955 with a BS degree in accounting. Prior to retiring in 1990, Mr. Baute was a partner for 25 years in the Indianapolis office of Geo. S. Olive & Co., Certified Public Accountants. He was Director of services performed for financial institutions and served on the firm's Executive Committee. Mr. Baute was a 40 year member of the Indiana CPA Society and a member of the American Institute of CPAs. He was a Life Member of the Indiana University Alumni Association and belonged to the IU Varsity Club. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Barbara; sister Betty McNeil, brother Harold, sister-in-law Norma Jean; three sons Jon (Michelle), Craig, and Steve (Rachel); seven beloved grandchildren, Daniel Hoover; Reece, Evan, Myah and Zack Baute; Joshua and Makayla Ingles; great grandson Landon Hoover; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother John. Visitation will be from 11am-1pm Mon. Sept. 24 at Matthews Mortuary , Brownsburg, with funeral services there at 1pm. Burial will be in Brownsburg Cemetery.
