Obituary

Gerald Woodard
Gerald L. Woodard passed away on September 24, 2023 at the age of 67, surrounded by his family. He leaves behind his wife Elizabeth, his children DJ, Michelle, Adam and Jennifer along with their significant others Ronnie, Kyle and Abby. In addition, he leaves his mother Jaqueline, his sisters, Kathy and Cindy, his brothers Dale and Jim, and 7 grandchildren.
Jerry was an Army veteran where he earned the nickname "Woody". After years of military service, he became a reserve deputy for the Brownsburg Police Department. He later continued his love of serving to the Hendricks County Sheriff's Department. Starting as a jail officer, Jerry climbed to the rank of Major before retiring as a deputy. Jerry ended his career with 31 years of service.
Jerry was a passionate golfer, enthusiastic muscle car lover and relentless joke teller. If you were at a local car show, you probably saw his orange '73 Barracuda, with which he won many trophies that he proudly displayed in his garage. After his retirement, Jerry golfed almost every day, despite having an incurable slice. Although his slice never went away, his putting game made up for it.
Jerry will have a visitation and service on Friday, September 29. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, with the service immediately following. The service will be held at Matthews Mortuary in Brownsburg, IN.  A Celebration of Life will be held immediately following the service at the Brownsburg Eaton Hall, 61 N. Green St., Brownsburg, IN  46112, until 9:30 pm.
