Gregory L. Hays

73, Avon, passed away on April 30, 2020.  Greg Hays was a loving father and grandfather.  He was born to Mary Marvel Hays and Harry Hays in 1947.   Greg graduated from Brownsburg High School.  He retired from both Blue Cross Blue Shield and the Plainfield Community School Corporation.

He was affectionately known as Dad, Pop and Grumpa.  He lived simply but loved deeply and truly lived for his family.  He made his kids his number one priority throughout his life and was there to help with the good times and the hard times.  Dad and ice cream had a way of making things better.   He created lasting memories with his grandkids with after school trips to the gas station to pick out treats and throwing high pop flies for the boys to practice catching.  He let his granddaughter fix his hair putting tiny "ponies" all over his head and continued weekly dinner dates with his daughter and granddaughter.

Greg was also an avid gun collector.  He enjoyed building different models and shared this passion with his family.  And he loved to play pranks, a passion he also shared with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Mary Hays.  Survivors include his son Jason (Susie) Hays; daughter Ashley (John) Wray; grandchildren Justin Hays, Zachary Hays, Maggie Hays, and Riley Hays.  Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 9th 2020.  A graveside Service will begin promptly at 11:00 a.m. at Macedonia Cemetery, 10258 Wilson Road, Brownsburg Indiana 46112.  A procession from Matthews Mortuary will lead Grumpa to his final resting place.  Anyone interested in joining the procession should meet at Matthews Mortuary at 10:15 a.m.
