Harold C Lyons

Age 88, Brownsburg, passed away January 2, 2023 peacefully in his home. Harold (son to James and Mable Lyons) was the proud and privileged husband of Sharon Lyons. Harold and Sharon enjoyed almost 66 years of marriage together.

He is survived by his wife and his children: Mark C Lyons, Michael Lee Lyons, and Mindy Lyons (Doug) Hobbs. Harold also had 9 grandchildren: Brock (Tasha) Lyons, Markie (Randy) White, Hannah (Drew) Sempsrott, Cody (Michelle) Bowen, Abigail (Donald) Sanders, Levi Lyons, Sharon Rose Lyons, Hannah Hobbs and Gracie Hobbs; and 9 great grandchildren: Bennett and Griffin White; Luke Bowen; Samuel, Elisif and Minka Sempsrott; Xerxes and Sterling Sanders; and Lylah June Lewis.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Carl Williams, Evelyn Williams, James Lyons, Bernard Lyons and John Lyons.

Harold served his country dutifully in the U.S. Army from 1957-1959, traveling as far as Stuttgart Germany. He was a professional motorcycle, stock car and snowmobile racer competing all across the country.

Harold was the owner and co-founder of Lyons Excavating, operating heavy equipment for over 50 years; moving dirt at the IMS, Colts Practice Complex, Clermont Golf Course and many more. Golfing was a passion for Harold, and he enjoyed golfing with the same group of friends every week for over 25 years.

He was a friend, mentor, and constructive criticizer to countless people. Always ready to help and have fun with any of them. Join us as we celebrate his life.

Visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm Tues. Jan. 10 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with funeral services there at 1 pm.
