Harriet Edna McCoy

Harriet Edna McCoy, 71, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully in her home on July 17, 2025.

Born in New Johnsonville, Tennessee, Harriet was lovingly raised by her aunt and uncle, Christine and Leroy Rucker. She graduated from Norwalk High School and EHOVE Career Center in 1970.

Harriet dedicated over four decades to her career in accounting, working for TransTec in Milan, Ohio for 10 years, and later serving as a valued team member at Gene B. Glick Company for over 30 years until her retirement in 2020.

Known for her sharp wit, warm heart, and adventurous spirit, Harriet lived life to the fullest. She was passionate about photography, scrapbooking, cooking, gardening, and especially traveling. Her journeys took her to remarkable destinations across the globe, including Ireland, Hawaii, Italy, Spain, France, Greece, Turkey, Alaska, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and many more.

Harriet was preceded in death by her Uncle Leroy Rucker; Aunt Christine Rucker; father, Johnnie Wells; mother, Elizabeth Gardner; brothers, Johnny Wells and Jerry Lomax; and sisters, Gail Lomax and Pearl Woodard.

She is survived by her daughters, Tiffany Nicole McNeal and Renae McDonald (Brenda Bayliss); her siblings, Shirley Wylie, Genia Nesbitt, Wanda Williams (Michael), and Kenneth Wells; her beloved grandson, Rosaan Winston Pendarvis; and her cherished fur companion, Peanut.
