Obituary

Helen S. Fitz
93, Indianapolis, formerly of Cedar Park, Texas, passed away November 22, 2022.  Helen Joan Suhr Fitz was born on the farm in Dodge County near Scribner, Nebraska, daughter of Herman George Suhr, Jr. and Alma Olga Witte Suhr on Nov. 21, 1929.  She first attended Country School through 8th grade and graduated from Scribner High School. Helen received her Bachelor's degree in education from Midland University in Fremont, NE.  She taught at various high schools through out the state while working on her Master's degree from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.  Upon graduation, she married David (Dave) B. Fitz.  Over their 62 year marriage they lived in the San Francisco area; McAllen, TX; Fresno, CA and Cedar Park, TX.  After raising 2 daughters, she worked for the McAllen State Bank eventually becoming the Trust Officer.  She was also active in the Presbyterian Church as a deacon, elder and teacher for the women's circles as well as an officer in the PTA for an elementary school.  Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Lois Chudomelka (Thomas) and daughter Cindy Long.  Survivors include her daughter Karen (William) Jefferies; son-in-law Paul Long; grandchildren Chris Long; Cory (Paige) Long; Adam (Grace) Jefferies; Michael (Kennedy) Jefferies; great grandchildren Fitz Long, Evelyn Jefferies and Westley Jefferies.  If you would like to make a donation, they can be made to The Alzheimer's Association.  Private family services will be held.
