Obituary

Jack E. Bain Brownsburg, passed on to his Loving Creator. He leaves behind a legacy of love and virtue that will be missed by his family and friends. Born in the western Indiana town of St. Bernice, Jack was the 7th of 8 children. His father was a train conductor, and his mother took on the duties of the home. As a child he saw tragedy in the death of his brother Carl. He saw drama in his brother Donald's European theater WWII saga. His great friend and brother, George, led him through the Scouting ranks to Eagle and to his favorite sport, baseball. Sisters, Helen, Rosemary, Dorothy, and Bobbie "Barbara" were there to guide and share their lives and tales through it all. He left after high school for Indianapolis to find work at GM. It was through the company's contribution that he was able to matriculate as a mechanical engineer at the General Motors Institute. He spent the remaining work years at Allison Gas Turbine forming great friendships and working as a team to innovate and create turbine engines of remarkable capabilities. In his twenties, he found the love of his life in Mary "Madonna" Porter. They were inseparable. Theirs was a world that would include 6 children raised in Brownsburg, IN. Commitment to family and Christian values was their simple formula for happiness. It worked and they leave much to show for it. Ken, wife Amy, children Dan and Molly; Jackie Meunier, husband Mike, children, Kyle, Chad, and Cara; David, wife Cathy, children, Jacob and Eric; Donna Murray, husband Jon, children Nathan, Sean, and Jennifer; Mike, wife Bridget, children Jack, Lucy, and Eleanor; Steve with daughter Mary. After Madonna passed a few years ago, it was Jack who through tears rallied the children. "We are still a family and we will continue on." Thank you Dad. We love you. Visitation will be from 4-7pm Tues. Oct. 23 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with funeral services 10am Wed. Oct. 24 at St. Malachy Church. Burial will be at St. Malachy Cemetery West.
