James M. Dezelan Sr.
90, Brownsburg, passed away on April 26, 2022. He was a 1950 graduate of Cathedral High School and attended Purdue University. He retired from Allison Gas Turbine, after 41 years, as a processing engineer. A US Army veteran, James was a member of St. Malachy Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the Slovenian National Home. He coached football for St. Christopher School and received the Monsignor Busald Award for his service. He was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Dorothy Dezelan; sister Dorothy Dezelan Kirk; brother William (Toni) Dezelan. Survivors include his wife of 67 years Julia Murphy Dezelan; children Julianne (Victor) Osecki, Jeannie (Michel) Cairns, James Dezelan Jr., Jennifer (Mark) Rutherford; Bob (Nancy) Murphy; grandchildren Luci (Ben) Byrnes, Daniel Osecki, Anthony Cairns, Claire (Brent) Herman, Andrew (Emmy) Cairns, Jaime Bradley, Kim (Brian) Bell, Sarah (JD) English; great grandchildren Luke Cairns, Owen Byrnes, Cora Byrnes, Nora Cairns, and Lily Cairns, Gabby Bradley, Maya English, Emma Bell, Ethan Bell. Visitation will be from 4-7pm Monday May 2 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg. Funeral services will be at 10am Tuesday May 3 at St. Malachy Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery with military honors.
