James A. "Jim" Hausmann

My beloved husband passed away on July 8, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family after a 3 year battle with cancer.  Jim was born on July 10, 1946 in Evansville, IN to Albert and M. Dorothy (Barron) Hausmann.  He married Arlene (Koch) Hausmann, his main caregiver, for 50 years.  Their daughters are Michelle (Joe) Hazel and Julie Hausmann, who were by his side with loving care.  Other survivors are his brother William Hausmann and sister Teresa (Tom) Stillabower.  Also brothers and sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, many cousins and friends.  Pre-deceased are Jim's parents and brothers Carl Hausmann and John Hausmann.  Jim attended Sacred Heart, Mater Dei High School, Indiana University for a Bachelor's and Butler University for Master's Degrees in Education. Plus an additional 30 hours at various Institutions.  Jim taught Social Studies for 35 years.  First at Shortridge High School and then Northwest High School.  He also coached football, wrestling, track, and cross country.  He retired in 2005 to enjoy gardening, bicycling, wood carving, taking cruises and traveling in general.  Jim was a great husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend.  Cancer took him too soon.  Special thanks to his caregiver, Sandy, helpful relatives Diane, Augie and Bill, and special friends Sherry, Shirley, McKinney's, and neighbors.  Donations may be made in memory of James Hausmann (65) to Mater Dei High School, 1300 Harmony Way, Evansville, IN 47720.  Visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm July 15 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with funeral services there at 1 pm.  Father Sean Danda, St. Malachy Church, leading prayers and soloist Michelle Thompson.  Burial to follow at West Ridge Park Cemetery, 9295 W. 21 ^st Street, Indianapolis, IN  46234.
