JAMES ALEX MILLER, JR.
AUGUST 11, 1947 – MAY 29, 2025
James A. Miller, Jr, age 77, was a believer in Christ. Confident of eternity in Heaven, he went to be with the Lord on May 29, 2025, in the town of Danville, Indiana. Diagnosed on November 15, 2024, he lived with rapidly progressing Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), until God took him home.
James, also known as Jim (and Gimpy by his grandchildren) was a faithful husband, loving father, devoted grandfather, affectionate brother, kind neighbor and friend. He was joyful, outgoing and generous. We will celebrate his life at Woodland Terrace of Danville on Sunday, June 22nd from 2-3:30pm. Jim was widely known for his passionate love of gardening, his deep and joyous laughter, and his genuine interest and care for people around him. The theme of the Celebration of Life will be gardening, and we will invite everyone to wear bright colors, like the flowers Jim loved.
Jim was born in Wadsworth, Ohio, to Alex and Louise Miller on August 11, 1947. He graduated from Highland High School. Following graduation, he served in the Army for three and a half years in Anchorage, Alaska. On March 18, 1971, Jim married Lecia Marie Haynes at Bible Baptist Church in Anchorage. Jim and Marie Miller recently celebrated their 54th anniversary in Danville, IN.
Jim is preceded in death by his father Alex Miller, and his mother Ida Louise Gargus. He is survived by his wife Lecia Marie Miller; son Jeffrey Scott Miller with wife Melissa, and grandchildren Emilia, Chloe, Sophie, Aiden; son Christopher Daniel Miller and grandson Corbin; sister Charlotte Miller; sister Linda Kopfstein.
