Janet Mae
Strange
July 1, 1946 – December 14, 2021
Janet Mae Strange (nee TenBarge)
It pains us to share that Janet "Miss Janet" Strange went home to be with her heavenly Father on the morning of Tuesday, December 14th, 2021. She was born on July 1st, 1946 in Evansville, IN; the fifth of seven beautiful daughters born to Cletus and Elanor "Tootie and Ellie" TenBarge. Miss Janet was a loving and devout daughter, sister, friend, wife, aunt, Mother, and caregiver. She lived her life devoted to loving and serving others well, as evidenced from her early days of serving as a missionary with two dear friends on an Indian Reservation in South Dakota, to her in home day care that spanned over thirty years, during which time she helped raise over 300 children whom she dearly loved. After retiring and moving to Brownsburg, Janet devoted much of her time and love to her family, and was an integral part of grandchildren's daily lives. She also worked part time as a host at Green Street Restaurant.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn Strange, and her sister, Jenny Langhorst. Survivors include her sons Cabot (Marie) Strange, Ethan (Jordan) Strange; sisters Judy Marx, Linda Cornell, Sylvia Jarvis, Sharon Willis, and Bonnie Brennan; grandchildren Mariah, Caleb, Parker, and Everly.
Janet loved her Savior, the Lord Jesus, with all her heart, and she loved God's Word. She was always involved in various Bible studies, prayer groups, and attended Connection Pointe Church. Though she was a humble, gentle woman, Janet was nonetheless a powerful prayer warrior and spiritual powerhouse, and only heaven knows what a wonderful and eternal impact all her many years of faithful praying have had on her family, her friends, and the world at large. Although Miss Janet will be dearly missed by so many, we are thankful that she is in now home, in heaven, and once again in the arms of her beloved husband. Her legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched through her tireless Christian example and unyielding servant's heart.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 pm on Wednesday December 22nd at Matthews Mortuary in Brownsburg, with funeral services at 3pm.
