Janice worked many years at the Clinton County Courthouse; first as the Circuit Court Reporter and additionally as a Clerk in the Prosecutor's Office. In 1986 Janice married the love of her life, John R. May, and semi-retired and moved to Sanford, North Carolina. There she founded and started the first hospice center in the county where Janice and John spent many years devoting their love and care to in-home hospice patients. Their biggest adventure was a 100+ day cross country tour to Alaska and back and checking off all the states they visited along the way.

In 2001 they "retired" from the road and bought residences back home in Indiana and spent winters at Clerbrook Golf and RV Park in Clermont, FL where Janice was the Treasurer of the Clerbrook Church @ the Hearth until this past year. She also volunteered for many years preparing communion at Traders Point Church and at The Hearth Church. She enjoyed baking, playing cards, beating everyone at pegs-n-jokers, making cross-stitch quilts for all her grandchildren and great-children, taking bus trips to Biloxi and Tunica and going to see the Gaithers with her Clerbrook friends. She looked forward to her sister trips to Shipshewana and the annual camping trips with the nieces and nephews. She remained very active until the last few months of her life.
