Janis (Jan) Louise Storms Gustavson, former Indianapolis resident was called home to the Lord on May 21, 2019, in Phoenix, Arizona, at the age of 66. Jan was born in Indianapolis on February 11, 1953 to Charles Robert Storms (deceased) and Ellavon Storms. She married Steven Thomas Gustavson on February 11, 1978, he survives. She is survived by her daughters, Stacy Elizabeth (Brandon) Wessel, Kristy Marie (Mario) Brown and grandson, Maxwell Brown; siblings Judy Donovan, Pamelia Storms-Barrett, Patricia Evanoff, Robert (Lu Anne) Storms and George Evanoff. She is also survived by her former son-in-law, Lindsey Lopez and her nieces and nephews, J.R. Barrett, Sharon (Stuart) Odle, Tony (Shelley) Barrett, Susan Donovan, Shannon (Chris) Staples, Sally (Dennis) Lehane, Sabra (Brian Ayres) Evanoff, Shawn Donovan, Patia (George) Green, and Holly (Mike) Timko. ; Plus several great nieces and nephews.
Jan was baptized in 1969 at the Clermont Christian Church. She graduated from North Central High School in 1971 and the University of North Dakota in 1977, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority.
One of Jan's favorite places was Clearwater Beach, Florida. Making trips to Indiana in summer and in the fall, so she could go the Covered Bridge Festival in Parke County, were equally on the top of her list of places she loved to go. Jan loved to celebrate all holidays, especially Christmas and the 4 th of July.
Professionally, Jan spent 32 years as a teacher (known as Mrs. G to her students) in the Washington Elementary School District in Phoenix, Arizona first as substitute teacher, than began working full time in the same school district until her retirement in 2017 due to health issues.
Jan will be missed by so many people who loved her, especially her family and close friends.
The Family is very grateful to the physicians, nurses, close friends and particularly her sister "Trish" for the kindness and care of Jan during the time of her illnesses.
Viewing will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. on May 30, 2019, at Matthews Mortuary, 690 E 56 th Street, Brownsburg, Indiana. Private Interment will be in Brownsburg Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org
