Jerry D.
Nicholson
August 6, 1942 – September 21, 2025
Jerry Dwayne Nicholson, 83, of Brownsburg, Indiana, passed away peacefully on September 21st, surrounded by the love of his family at Hendricks Regional Health.
Born on August 6th, 1942, in Spencer, Indiana, to Laveral A. Nicholson and Imagene (Dorothy) Nicholson, Jerry grew into a man known for his strength, humor, and dedication - both to his country and the people he loved.
Jerry met the love of his life, Juanita (Dodson) Nicholson, while they were both working on the 13th floor of the Indiana Statehouse. It took two proposals, but Juanita finally said yes - and on May 15, 1966, they began a marriage that would span nearly six decades. Together, they raised two children: Kimberly McCleary (Nicholson) and Jeffrey Nicholson.
Jerry proudly served in the National Guard for 32 years, retiring as Command Sergeant Major - a role that spoke to his leadership, and deep sense of duty. After his military service, he continued his dedication to hard work at Rolls Royce. Jerry was also a proud member of the Masonic Lodge, the Murat Shrine, the Brownsburg American Legion, and Trailside Christian Church - always finding ways to love and connect with his community.
He was the kind of man who never met a stranger - quick with a handshake, a story, or a joke. Calling many "Bud" or "Partner," Jerry lit up every room.
Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Kimberly McCleary and his cherished grandson Jeremy Dwayne Nicholson.
He is survived by his wife Juanita, his son Jeffrey Nicholson (Tammy), and his 7 grandchildren: Jasmine Shultheis (Josh), Amanda Swift (Tyler), Kelsey Bradley (Ryan), Nathan McCleary (Kirstin), Kennedy Jefferies (Michael), Conner Donaldson, and Garrett Nicholson. He was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren - John, Henry, Evelyn, Jenna, Finnick, Ruth, Mason, Amelia, and Dorothy. Jerry also leaves behind many dear nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends who he loved deeply and who loved him just as much.
Jerry will be remembered for the deep love he had for his family. His legacy lives on in the stories, laughter, and values he passed on - and in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know him.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 26th from noon to 2pm at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with funeral services there at 2pm. Burial will follow in Brownsburg Cemetery.
